How we met:
Can you believe it? We met online! After Elspeth spotted Dan wearing snowshoes in his OkCupid profile picture, she sent him a note to say hello. After a few days of emails, we found we had more than just our love of snowshoeing in common and we met for tea. Dinner followed a week later, and a few days after that we headed to the mountains for a day of snowshoeing, followed by a dinner of crab cakes, made by Dan from one very feisty 3.3 lb crab. The rest is history!
The proposal:
There are a lot of sweet little details to the story, but you'll have to hear those in person. The short story is that Dan proposed to Elspeth during a trip to Kauai. Shortly after touching down in Hawaii, Dan sent Elspeth off to a very long and very relaxing massage. Upon her return to the room, she found that Dan had decked the place out with balloons dangling Yahtzee scorecards from the many dinnertime games played over the last few years (that he had been secretly pulling from the recycle bin when Elspeth wasn't looking). He got down on one knee, she cried like a baby (blame the massage), words were exchanged (you know the drill) and it was official!
